4 Things You Can Do
With just 1 week until penalty rates are slashed, urgent action is needed.
We know that workers can’t afford, and don’t deserve, this pay cut – which is why we’re not giving up the fight.
It’s not too late to stop this from going ahead, but it’s going to take an almighty push from people just like you.
We know it might feel tough, we know it’s hard to know what you can do to help, which is why we’ve put together this list of four simple things that you can do:
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has the power to stop cuts to your take-home pay but instead has sat back and done nothing. When wages growth is at a record low, it’s hardly fair for Malcolm Turnbull to allow workers to have their pay slashed.
What do you sacrifice when you work on a Sunday or public holiday? Time with your kids? Time to study? Playing footy? Penalty rates are not a luxury, they make up an important part of take-home pay for many workers. If you’re impacted by cuts to penalty rates, we need to hear from you. Telling your story helps to build a stronger case to protect penalty rates, in Parliament, in the community and in your workplace.
How many times have you missed out on something special with your friends and family because you were at work? Penalty rates make sure that you receive fair compensation for working. Share the petition on Facebook to get your work mates, friends and family on board too!

The SDA is the Union that represents retail and fast food workers by ensuring they receive fair pay and working conditions. They have been defending the attacks to penalty rates and now they are appealing the decision in Federal Court to stop any cuts to your take-home pay. Joining the SDA means they can continue to fight to protect your penalty rates.
By doing one or all of these things, you can help us stop the attack on penalty rates and protect the pay of over 700,000 hard working Australians just like you.
